Narrative
Immigrated to the U.S. about 1864. Arrived in California between 1864 &1869. He worked as a loader on the docks at the Port of Oakland for about $1000 per year. He bought a house at 210 8th street in Oakland for about $3800. In 1872 he had saved enough to send for his wife and two sons. (This bears investigation since there is Mary born in NY and Jennie born in Calif.).
