Graham
The name Graham comes from the Scottish clan of Graham. The name is
said to be found as early as the 5th century as Grame, but most historians place
the first use of the name with this spelling around 1198 .The surname Graham is a place name which means one who came from Graham, or lived at or near the "gray homestead". W. Herbert (Toy) Graham emigrated, at the age of 9, with his family from Wales in England in 1889. Edna McCutcheon is the only grandparent that was born in this country. Her family were all Irish immigrants. Pearson
Ruth's side of the family all hail from Sweden. Her parents, Arvid
Pearson and Signe Samuelson both emigrated from the "old country" in
the 1900's they met and married in Jamestown, New York where Ruth was
born. The family then moved to Oakland, California shortly after
Sheldon was born.
