According to a letter from Rosa to Evelyn Pearson (nee Samuelson). Jonas [Rosa refers to him as John]Samuelson spent most of his life in Boda, Sweden [Kalmar county] about 3 miles from Gamle?. [I've been unable to find any reference to a place called "Gamle?" in Sweden. I did find a "Gamleby" in Kalmar county. There are at least two Bodas in Kalmar. She seems to be refering to a very small one in Vena parish that doesn't show up on most maps, but I did find it on map of Kalmar Län in the Oakland FHC]
He was a very wealthy man. He had a brewery (sic) and was selling whiskey, where he made his fortune.
He had 10 children, and he left his sons, I think he had 5, a farm each.
My grandfather, Karl Johan [Jonsson] [Rosa's, son of Jonas Samuelson] got a farm in Boda. His brother August
[Samuel August Jonsson] got a farm called Grytegård where Judith was born.
But do to drinking and poor management they all lost there farms except one brother, Sven Petter.
His grandson still has the farm in Boda. So far as I know.
After your grandfather [August Samuelson] lost his farm they moved to Väderum where your dad [Axel Samuelson] was born.
Your grandparents name was August and Maria. They had seven children. Frans Cisco, Aldor, Judith, Anna, Hugo, Axel and Signe.
Frans Cisco disappeared when he was in his twenties. No one knows what happen to him.
Aldor moved to Omaha. Hugo did not live long after he came to America. He died in his twenties.
The three sisters and your dad (Judith, Anna, Signe & Axel) you know about them.
Judith and Aldor came to America that same time. Aldor was 14 [more likely 24], Judith was 12 [would have been 28 at this time], your dad [Axel] was 16, Anna was 18, and Signe was 14.
I don't think Signe ever met her brother Aldor [This makes no sense since they were both the same age according to above, but we now know Aldor was actually born in 1877].
Signe was born after Judith and Aldor left for America [This also makes no sense given the ages listed above, however
Judith was born in 1880]
Data derived from records:
Jonas appearantly moved his family to Boda (Danevik No.2) early in 1848 from ?.
